Twitter start to censor by country

Twitter is well known for having very few boundaries and you can say what you like in 160 characters. But the company Twitter announced last Thursday that it would start censoring certain content in certain countries, a sort of micro-censorship widget that would pop up in a grey box on the Twitter feed.

English version of Wikipedia is offline – Dont ban sites that break the copyright law

Copyright law means the English version of Wikipedia is offline today causing users of the site great problems in finding information they need. It’s only the English version of the site which is offline for 24 hours.

Wikipedia is offline as part of a temporary ‘blackout’ in protest against the proposed US anti-piracy laws Pipa and Sopa which will effect website breaking copyright laws. If you log onto the English version of the Wikipedia website today all you will see is a black screen and a statement: ‘Imagine a world without free knowledge’.

Worm attacks Facebook and steels 45,000 login credentials

A malware computer worm –dubbed Ramnit – is the cause of the attack on Facebook, it has stolen 45,00 login details mainly from UK and French Facebook users. This piece of worm malware has been around since April 2010 and has previously stolen bank details.

Facebook has posted details on their blog saying that they suspect that the attackers behind the worm Ramnit are using the stolen credentials to login to victims’ Facebook accounts and to transmit malicious links to their friends, thereby magnifying the malware’s spread even further .

Google Search has a new look

Google Search New Look
It’s the biggest change that Google has done to its Search homepage for years. After months of getting use to the new black bar at the top, it’s now moving. Google have added a grey logo to the top left of the page and when clicked or highlighted a sleek black vertical menu appears which seven other Google services. You can then click on more and see a wider list of Google services.
The new look does not clutter the search page, but leaves other Google services easily at hand, keeping the clean look that we love about Google, unlike Yahoo’s busy homepage.
